Tinto Negro, which means ‘black wine’ in Spanish, celebrates the essence of Malbec in Mendoza. Known for its dark, blackish colour, Malbec is definitely a Tinto Negro. Tinto Negro was created by the long-time friendship and professional collaboration of Alejandro Sejanovich and Jeff Mausbach, colleagues at Bodega Catena Zapata for almost 15 years.
Tinto Negro wines reflect the heart and soul of Malbec in Mendoza. The portfolio explores the terroirs of Mendoza where Malbec does best, gradually isolating unique vineyard sites and winemaking techniques which can showcase the heights of concentration and complexity to which Malbec can aspire.
“Alejandro Sejanovich is one of Argentina’s most intellectually gifted winemakers. Few people can explain the country’s different terroirs as well... “Great vineyards are a winery’s most important asset.” he says. Sejanovich’s wines are at their most profound in the Uco Valley, especially from Tinto Negro’s 1955 vineyard in La Consulta on the 4 different soil types of the La Escuela vineyard. “ - Decanter magazine October 2017
